Back in 2015, I reviewed Transport Aerian’s Darkblue, an album that I still see as an evolution in their sound towards something special. The record was poetic, mysterious, lyrically weighty, and murky in all the right ways. Melodic Revolution Records is happy to release the tenth anniversary edition of this fantastic album, available now at the links below.
The band is doing something pretty interesting with this release. They are collaborating with Greek artist Fiobos Gkoubras, periodically releasing the artist’s immediate emotional impressions of each track on the album. This has produced some beautiful and abstract pieces like the ones below. You can see them all at the band’s website.
One final note: the song “Black” remains one of my favorite Transport Aerian songs. In 2015, I described it as transitioning from “subdued and poetic to climactic and breathtaking”, and I still feel that way. The texture and hidden meanings are more potent than ever.
Fans of fascinating music that are looking for something a little different, something that doesn’t run with the pack, so to speak, should check out this album now!
